Took my dad and grandfather out mon. morning to enjoy a beautiful fall day and hopefully catch some fish. Well if the first pass was any sort of a sign of how the day was going to be then we were in luck. We started with a triple including 25″+ that my dad gave the rod tip to at the side of the boat. We ended up keeping 18 fish (3 limits) and throwing back 9 small ones. My grandfather who is 84 years young was tired of reeling up fish within an hour and a half. We were trolling cranks on lead and 8 ounce snap weights, concentrating on main drop-offs and neck down areas. I beleive that with this extended warm weather that the fall big fish bite might hit its peak as soon as the water temp drops just a tad. Look for a consistent 50-55 degree stretch(5-7 days). Last year the water temp. took a huge nose dive very quickly and the big fish bite never really materialized for me or other people I spoke to.
