Fished around the hudson area this morning with pretty good luck on saugers with a jig and minnow. 23-24 feet of water was successful. Biggest was 18″. 9-10 am was the peak of action just before the wind changed. Not too many white bass mixed in with the sauger this year. Last year I caught quite a few nice white bass in the same area.

Cool thanks for the report, I’ve been tossing around the idea of getting out for some fishing out there, but have seemed to have chosen sleep every morning instead . Then I thought Hey I have to be in Bayport tomorrow anyways for a wedding, what better excuse to get up early and head out for a bit, until my coworker called and wanted the night off, now I’m here for 16 … Get back out there catch a couple for me

I went out for a hour and a half…my little hot spot produced nothing!

    Kinda windy though!

Yeah, but I’m interested in walleye and sauger reports, not the bass you love and chase.

We hit the Prescott area for a while this morning with some pretty good success also. Caught 10-15 wall/saugerers,cat’s,2 sheeps,3-4 silver bass, 1 sucker,1 carp and had something on that had some real shoulders to it! Got him half way up and he let go. Jig and Minnow worked well for us in 18-20 feet of water away from the crowds. The biggest of out fish went on a crawler on a splitshot and hook. Caught multiple fish with that setup except with a minnow on it. All these were caught in less than 3 hours.

    OUCH!

It seems that with raps, you need to really slow down your speed….like 1 mph then put some arm motion in it.

Although the wind went down…My wife roped and hog tyed me into taking her out to eat last night….Catfish Saloon in Afton…did you need to ask!?

Hope to get out this morning for an hour….before work.

Hmmm… Chappy, I was down there Thursday for a couple of hours dragging minnows, same depth, not a dang thing. Oh well, now I have to get out again..

Hit the water in the Hudson area for a couple hours Sunday evening and had some of the best fishing ever. Boated 25 sauger, with half of those over 17″, with biggest at 19″. Fireballs and minnows in 18-20ft, fish were just stacked and hungry.

Nice action Schmidtty! Were there less people out there in the evening? Seemed like if I moved further away from the crowd I caught bigger fish. Wonder if the fishing for walleyes will pick up after it gets colder this week? Good luck if you get out again.

There were still alot of guys out but scattered all over. We only had one other boat near us. But as fishing goes, my buddy went out the next am to the same area and nothing. Apparently the shad schools moved and the saugers followed. I see the same theory play out on the Croix as on Pepin, find the seagulls, find the fish.
