Silver but no Gold

Tried for eyes a little last night with crawlers and plastic. Trolled some too but overall didn’t try that hard for eyes. I was really after the fall silver bite and it was in full swing. My personal best last night was 5 casts with fish in a row. They were so wild late in the evening I was on the river til dark. My hot lure was a small rattle trap but I think anything would work. No huge ones but a few respectable. No tiny ones either though. Basically at the end it seemed like a fish every cast. Fun on light tackle.

    Suziki,

The silvers put up a great fight and there are some nice ones in the croix. I thought somebody had to be out there fishing this week with this awesome weather. Did you see them surfacing or locate them with the graph? Looks like it will be raining/snowing on saturday when I am able to get out again. Maybe sunday will be better. I love this time of year. Fall is all about fishing and football. Thanks for the report.

I found them where they usually are this time of year. They were surfacing periodically. Much more towards evening. Funny you should ask that. I was so agrivated last night. I would be motoring off to one surface explosion, it would quit by the time I got there and another would pop up back where I was. It was like a no win game of ‘wack a mole’.
Finally they concentrated and I just got them all around me. Seagulls are also a dead give away now. They would jump right in when a feeding frenzy started on surface. Just before dark they were storming the surface almost constantly. Minnows flying out of the water everywere. Very cool.

Gold but no silver! Although just one! Gull and silvers a splashing…all i could get was one 16 in sauger in 8 foot of water….sigh…

I gotta admit to getting into the silver bite as well. I was out Saturday just before dark and again tonight, and took nice size bass with lots of fishing action, not quite 5 fish in a row casting, but close & doubles too. It was great fun, but with sunset getting earlier, it makes it harder to get out after work

I agree. The shorter days eventually do me in before the cold weather. Pretty soon I just can’t make it out on weekdays without taking time off work. Weekends are mostly about hunting from here on out so fishing time is getting squeezed. I’ll probably have my boat in storage by first of Nov.

1st of november, thats crazy talk(just kidding). What about fishing Red Wing in November. Smaller crowds and hot bites. You must want to ice fish really bad. Good luck hunting Suzuki!
