Hey Ted! Don’t let it get out that I chase eye’s…ruin my reputation don’t cha see.

I can only tell you about my little stretch of the river. From Hudson to the Kinni narrows.
For launches, the best and easiest access is the Wind Mill Marina in Afton. It’s also the most expensive. It has a very nice boat ramp, all the extras gas, minnows worms ect and dock hands to help you load and unload your boat. Parking is very good with a shuttle service during the busy times of the year.
Beanies, is likely to be the most popular full service landing in the area. Located just south of the I-94 bridge. Great landing, bait, gas and a store with a limited supply of fishing tackle.
Two other non service landings are located in Hudson, run by the City and St Croix Bluffs park located on Cty 21 about 8 miles south of Afton. These two fill up fast opening weekend.

For fishing in this area in the early spring, you’ll see a combination of presentations. Jigging is likely to be the most popular with pulling cranks on a three way coming in a close second. Lindy rigging a crawler comes later in the summer.
I prefer trolling because on the border waters you can use two lines, three if you live in anyother state but MN. There’s a 15 inch minimum size limit, with one being over 26 inches.
Two years ago, you could catch all the fish you wanted opening weekend. But it was hard to find a eye over 14.75 inches. This year it’s been slower, but a much better size fish.

There’s a couple folks on this board that know the Prescott/lower end and the Stillwater/north end much better than I.

    Hope that helps!
