Was down on the river last night playing with the dog for about an hour and a half. Didn’t see one boat in all that time. I’m heading out tonight, maybe have it all to myself

Hey Ritt, I haven’t heard from you in a while…and I know you’ve been out.
How you been doing out there? Working the wings and rock piles yet?The ol’ Croix is a fair weather river isn’t it. Little cold snap and everyone stays in there $5000. a year slip with the heat on!

Brian – Where did you find a slip on the Croix so cheap?? If the heat is on in the boat, so is the TV, (watching golf…of course!!) and a nice big pot a chilly, and having some cold ones.
I did drive over to Prescott yesterday afternoon. Didn’t see one fishing or pleasure boat out.

August 12, 2004 at 1:04 pm #316831Well Brian, its been slow to say the least. I have managed to pick up a few here and there. From July – September I always end up scratching my head (butt) trying to figure this out. Last night the couch decided that it needed some attention, so I gave in. But tonight the rebel ss will be out, guaranteed. I’ll probably start trolling raps below the kinni and make my way down the humps/flats toward P city. See how that goes, if that turns up flat, saturday morning I’ll be dragging spinners. My mother will be in town at noon on sat., so I will need to get 5 or so hours of fishing in before she rolls in. The calm before the storm!!
How have you been doing??? Couple buddies of mine tied into a real big cat the other night, they say she went 39 lbs, but I know how their stories go. Care to know where??See you on the water.
August 12, 2004 at 1:39 pm #316846I’m thinking of hitting it tonight too. Haven’t been out there in a long time. If I go I will launch in Hudson and hit some of my favorite spots around there. Lead core will definitely be one of my tools. Maybe some minnows.
August 13, 2004 at 1:42 pm #317131Long lined raps 17-30 feet last night. Started south of the kinni and made my way down river. Was running one dt 16 and one #11 jointed, both black and silver. Picked up one short on the flats below kinni. Picked up 3 nice saugers on the hump by prescott. Had better luck on the dt 16, was trying out the snap weights on the jointed, didn’t have much luck with the snap weights. Was never really sure where the lure was running. Oh well, more time to expirement with them. There were a couple of cruisers out last night, but overally traffic was very light. Met one other fisherman out there casting for muskies below kinni.
I’ll be out again saturday morning. Either dragging raps, or spinners with crawlers. I’m in a red lund rebel with this as a hood ornamet, if you see me, stop on over or give a wave.Jami
August 13, 2004 at 1:45 pm #317133Well I finally attached my first picture, little big, i’ll have to get better at that. There are no fish in this location, so you don’t have to fish there!!
August 13, 2004 at 2:38 pm #317145Ritt…big is good…that’s not too big!
If there’s no fish there…what’s on your locator…your anchor?
I never took the time to figure out that snap weight thing either…
Good Luck…If you see Suzuki out there…he’s ok…but don’t get too close to Sandbar…he’s a golfer and I don’t want you to get infected.
August 13, 2004 at 3:03 pm #317155I was in Hudson last night. Tried chasing the marks at 20+ feet with 3-ways but no go. Ended up chucking plastic on wind protected shores for a while. Got a few smallies. Lost a decent one. Long lined the channel for 2 passes and got about 5 fish, all very small. Got some good ideas and would like to fish the area more but the boat landing fees add up too fast.
August 14, 2004 at 3:21 am #317300Those marks in the 20’s were sunfish or sheepshead… I did get out a couple hours wednesday night, but only caught 4 fish, 2 sheeps, one sunfish, one short eye
August 16, 2004 at 1:35 pm #317468I was pretty lazy over the weekend, never did tie up any new spinner rigs, so I dragged raps on my two outings. Jury is still out on the snap weights, only caught one small sauger on it, but I’ll keep trying. Sat morning brought in 2 nice saugers. Sunday night, one sauger and a 28″ northern pike. First one for me. Brian, you don’t have to worry about me turning into a golfer, and yes, that is my anchor line on the graph
