For those of you that think walleye aren’t the only fish to catch 
I’m happy to report that the SM bass bite was AWESOME last evening on the ‘Croix. 6′-14’ rocks, rock piles w/current. Senkos, tubes, Torpedos and nightcrawlers. Had a few over 15″ and a bonus sauger to boot. Best action for me this Summer.

Nice report. You fishing north of hudson or south? I seem to catch better numbers north of hudson. I love to see the smallies hit topwater baits. I have also had good luck with tubes further south of hudson.
Steve, I was going to send you a pm. I was out for a couple hours giving one of the mutts a boat ride. I fished a rock edge between Afton and the Kinni. If I was in 12 feet of water with my lindy rig…I had a smallied on in seconds…It was crazy! Man those smallies can pull!

I tried South a couple of Saturdays ago and didn’t do so well. I was North on Wednesday between Stillsville and Hudson. Once that water gets over 70 degrees those smallies can really pull. I caught a couple of 15’s that I thought for sure were 18″ plus. Plastics really shined that day and topwaters.

You are absolutely right once that water gets hot they go on super charge!!
On a bassy note – I am convinced that my best bass are now down near treasure Island casino!!
I say next time there is a “BIG” bass tourney on the river we get together a bunch of us catch all the good ones and release them north of the tournament boundaries, catch these fish a day or two before the tournament… Because I highly doubt Bengie is going to find his way back home!
