My neighbor is heading up to the Taylor’s falls area in a week for a family outing. He asked if I knew what to expect for fishing. I have never fished there, but I told him I would get him some info. He wants to catch fish, doesn’t matter the what. He has two small children, so anything will work. Any help/suggestions??

Jigs and night crawlers should do the trick and it does not get much simpler. When I take the kids over we usually find a nice sand bar to pull up on. The kids play. I will throw a couple of lines out on the bottom and stick the rods in the holders. It does not take long for a sucker, smallie, sturgon or something to find your line.

The river is very shallow in that area. (below the dam) If they take a boat take it slow and maybe even plan on getting out and pushing once and a while when you loose the main channel.
I suggested crawlers because they are the easyest to keep this time of year and I dont know of a fish in the river that wont eat them. Minnows will work also and there is plenty of small mouth up there also.
Last tip. Make sure and check out the channels that go into the back waters. These areas can be very productive.

It looks like I might be putting in in Osceola saturday morning and heading north. If you see a polar kraft jon going by make sure and wave.

We ended up putting in at Fronconia this morning due tothe low water levels at Osceola. It is still possable to get a small boat in there or a larger boat with a shallow trailer.

Fishing was a little off for us today. We found no white bass this morning at sun up in the usual spots. They do tend to be a early summer fish in this streach of water. There where a few small eyes to be had when pitching minnows to shallow structure. The most active spot was the hole across from the channel from peasley lake. It seems to be full of crappies and northerns right now. Whe lost a few nice size pike there while jigging for crappies. Rock Island was holding a few fish also.

Water levels are low. I have seen lower. Its looks to be a good time to bring the swim suits with.
