We’ll that’s it I’m taking off work early and hitting the river, Thhe ole man is off work today too, so he’ll be comming along too, probably drop into pool 3 a bit too, I’ll post some results later. Meanwhile anyone got any tips? I’ve been hearing leeches, I expect to use a bit more finesse out there today, being the cold front probably made the fish a little more shy, probably a large split shot and hook, probably a bit of lingy riggin’, some jigging, maybe even some cranks…

We’ll it was a far from spectacular outing, but the weather really was nice, a little windy at times, but 95% of the time it was a non factor. In first 5 minutes my father picked up a nice 18+inch eye, and we spent the another 2 hours to hook another, 18 inch eye. Picked up multiple sheepies, small mouth bass, a nice white bass, and a nice 24 inch flathead, who probably went 4.5 pounds. Only one other eye all day and he went about 9 inches. I got to put a face to a name and met Briank out there on the river, seems like the same nice charature in real life aa he comes across here. From what I gathered it was a tough bite out there today, we only hear of one other legal eye caught by the many people we talked to. . Our 2 eyes were caught between 11am and 1pm and we fished til sunset, all in all it was a great day on the water, and no one I heard complained, sure they would liked fish, but it was great out there anyways. I believe I’m heading out tomorrow too I suppose you’d like to know what I caught the fish on huh? We’ll leeches and lindy rigs, on a the current side of a pretty steep break area.

It’s REEL life! Thanks Nick. Same goes for you and your dad!
That secret cat spot that you told me about? I produced one turtle last night (I’m changing my handle to “Turtle Hunter” or “Turds” for short).. and one SOLID bite.
When I see I’m getting bit, I normally like to hold the rod to feel him. Last night was no differant. So I’m holding the rod with the bail open feeling him take line…couple feet here a couple feet there. I figured he should have the cut bait in his mouth by now, so I crank the handle and got ready to “sweep” the rod (circle hooks). Well, that’s when he must have felt the hook because I came fingernails away from loosing my rod!
With one solid run he broke my (new) 35lb leader in half…and he was goneThis is why I’m going back out there as soon as I can!
July 8, 2004 at 12:34 pm #311711Awesome, yup, I know there a biggin out there, I know there were three other lines broken when something hit it hard, ran and snapped the line, almost instantly, but those were something like 6lb test anyways. I can’t wait to see the big cat pic Make sure that darn camera is working
Not sure whay my pic didn’t attach either I was well under the 100K limit
July 8, 2004 at 5:57 pm #311801Ecnook will be to the rescue…although you may have to send it to him. Make sure there’s no !@#$%^&* in the title..I think spaces and more than seven letters gives it trouble too….not sure.
Following this format….bigfish.jpg seems to work for me. When I deviate from that…I have trouble.July 9, 2004 at 1:53 pm #311924
