I was hoping to find some ice but it looks like I better hold off for a bit. With the weekends temps I’d be better off putting on the speedo and working on my tan.

Driving to work from Hudson it looked pretty wide open except for some ice in the corners and along the Dike Road.

Skim of ice now (Wed morning) in Hudson and north half of Lake St. Croix. Open water down towards Afton.

From the bridge construction south by the power plant the water is open. The constructions crews will be going as long as they can break up that ice. It is looking like the earliest ice we have seen for a while. Very early for north of the boomsite to freeze.

    EDIT*

I looked out after posting this and saw that the ice spread last night and now it looks like all the water froze up around the construction site. Pretty sure someone has already tested bayport ice by now.

Yea… so speaking of some EYE wheres mine still waiting Reports on the is about 5 / 5 1/2 inches of ice out of Bay Port crappies are in about 33 ft of water we were using a purple tungsten jig, with a Lucky crappie minnow. I have a question if any one knows the answer it would be helpful. Is the barge going to be breaking up the ice on the Croix all winter long and how far down will it be breaking up the ice

Without pictures, it’s a fishless fish fry.

the croix is such a weird bite one day there on and you can slay em and the next i am poplin holes working hard, as for the ice it was safe be for this rain / snow storm hit there was a perm-init shack brought across the river and they were saying it just looked pretty hairy just cross with caution.. i cant vouch on how the ice conditions are now until i go down there later this morning when it gets a little lighter out but temps are gonna drop drastically hat should stir some things up

MNDOT reported that they broke the ice up pushing barges to st paul today. May not be able to get to WI side for a day or so but this cold will refreeze that up. Anyone out when the barge went through?

I was on the ice last night when the tug went by, heading north past bayport to the bridge construction. Hope no one dies out there this year, boneheads.

That’s too bad. I wonder if they’ll use it as an excuse to shut down the Anderson Road?

Maybe they will build a bridge over it.
