Its been years since I’ve posted but I had such a great time yesterday that I wanted to share. We started the morning with fishing for sturgeon. Between the 3 of us we landed about 15 fish, the biggest being around 45 inches. We used fathead minnows fishing in about 25 FOW. After it slowed down around 2pm we decided to drag Lindy rigs for walleyes and sauger. Caught over a dozen fish but nothing over 15 inches. It seems that this is the year of the 14 inch walleye. I’m not sure if its due to the late spring we had or what but its been like that all year. Around 4 pm we noticed a flock of sea gulls diving at the water. Fathead minnows again caught all the fish. One could have tried any lure and I’m sure they would bite. We caught well over our limit of fish between 12 and 14 inches within a couple of hours. Each of us kept 10 fish apiece for dinner that night. I enjoy the multispecies that a person can catch while fishing the St. Croix.

Nice batch of white bass walleyhunter2. Fished the Croix on Sunday and we were only able to find a few decent Saugers and all Walleyes were short. Caught a bunch of Walleye/Sauger that were very small 4-10″ range. Caught one Sauger on a #7 Rapala that was about the size of a #9 Rapala. Really have to wonder what he was thinking. Down by Prescott we got into the white bass. Lots of fun but all that we caught were on the medium to small side.
