Has the walleye bite picked up for anyone in the area from Hudson to Stillwater? Im wondering if its going to be worth it to get out there a couple more times in between the middle of duck season?

I was out last week. I don’t think its too active right now but it would be interesting to hear results of RR to get a bead on things. I’m still holding out for some decent Oct fishing however with shorter days it gets harder and harder to make it out there on week days.

I know people want a straight out plain fact absolute best presentation to catch fish on the Croix. Fact is right now there is not one, for example the last three outings we used three differing baits. On one trip, minnows, and the other trip, crawlers, and the other trip we trolled and in all three we boated 40 legal eyes. The bite is not hot and they bite in short spurts. Best place yesterday had no bait balls!? Last Saturday it was a must… You can not be second guessed for fishing the balls of shad. Depths again as always vary, 19 to 30 fow. Some spots hold fish shallower some deeper… With the water temp still at 66 degrees crawlers as mentioned are catching fish (thats what we did yesterday). That will end as water cools and minnows become the choice.

It is really beautiful out there. Good luck to all.

And with the cool weather comes the St Croix Blue waters.

Not sure how this panoramic view will show up here, but a regular photo just don’t cut it.

    Whole crawlers or pieces?
