Does anyone target St. Croix walleyes at night? I know that this is a popular tactic on the wingdams of pool 2, but how about fishing shallow water on the Croix at night? I have been trying to put together a big fish pattern on the Croix for a while now without success. I was thinking that this may be worth a try! I have fishing into the dark a few times out here without success.

Has anyone had much success with this? Hoping to find some walleyes over 15 inches this fall!

I’ve caught walleyes at night on the Croix but not often. Tough bite for sure at night. Big fish are scattered on the Croix .

I haven’t targeted them but have ran across them when it’s been a full moon along the bank while camping. We were able to sight fish them 3 nights last October while sturgeon fishing. They would sit right off the back of the boats on a break from 1′ to 11′.

Haven’t done it for a few years, but I used to do it alot. Pulled original shallow thundersticks 25-100′ back with my boards as close to shore as I could. Most productive run was the WI side between Cat Fish and Black Bass. Fairly consistent bit, but the times varied. Sometimes it was hot right at dark, other times they didn’t bite until midnight. Be patient.

Casting Raps to the sand points at least 1 hour after dark could be productive…but I don’t have a clue about wallabe fishing.
