I am having a huge drought getting a Muskie hooked (0 for 4,000+ casts this summer.)I’ve been fishing any shallow spots I can find from Prescott, to Hudson, usually in the afternoon. I’ve been throwing every muskie lure I can think of with no luck. Anyone care to share some pointers?

You’ve probably tried it all but I’ve always heard to downsize, use more natural colors and…slow down. I fall else fails, try sucker minnows.

I think they say a muskie is a fish of every 10000 casts (or every 500 gallons of gas trolling). You should only have 6000 more cast to go.

The Croix is a tough body of water to fish for muskies. The traditionally good spots get the psss pounded out of them every day. Some guys are able to do ok out there, but most struggle. I’m in the second group too. I haven’t caught a ski on the Croix yet this year either. You can either keep trying or try to find another body of water to try. Good luck.

are you getting any follows? Need to fish deeper unless you want to fish the night bite.

Try trolling a lip’d crank 5-7 mph about 25-30 foot behind the boat.

Good luck.. Im alwasy looking for someone to throw some baits with send me a PM

Same problem, can’t get follows (5 in past 2 wks) to eat. Forget suckers, couldn’t find any from St Paul to Hayward. Croix muskies still there but only curious imho. My fall tactics apparently don’t work in summer.

Thanks everyone. I keep telling myself it is quality over quantity and when I do get one it will be a hog. Hopefully the action picks up before I get bit by the bow hunting bug.
