St Croix river pool elevation was 676′ this morning. That is just about right at normal summertime pool elevation which is about 675.5′. Looks like we are just about in a nice stable river pattern. The water temp last night was 77 degrees and the flow was pretty slow. I am seeing lots of bait fish activity and the sturgeon were jumping like crazy last night. I have been doing pretty good on cats lately and catching bait has been pretty easy and simple with a mix of sunfish, suckers and sheepshead plentiful and easy to catch for bait.
I haven’t seen any shad yet. Has anyone seen any shad pods on the big water south of Stillwater yet?
I found this beauty on Tuesday, 23 July. July has been a good month for cats with the stable river levels.
