Deep water trolling still working? That’s what I plan to try if I make it out this week.

I was out for a few hours Friday. Only fish I caught were under 19FOW except for a 10-12lb sheephead that came out of 21 FOW. Marked a ton of fish at 24-28 but they wanted nothing to do with the wide variety of cranks I trolled past ’em

Trolling worked for me Saturday morning 16-30ft. Most of the fish came around 20ft and I was only out 100ft with the leadcore

    Only fished 2.5 hours

Thought it was gonna be a big cat. Catching big fish is awesome.

Did ok last night. Probably caught 10 with 3 being keepers.
We kept a Croix trifecta. Walleye, sauger and a saugeye.
Lead line and the usual lures. Actually we tried a smash shad last night and it worked pretty good. Most fish were 20-25 feet. We had two lines in the water.

    What color smash shad?

Saugeyes are showing up quite a bit this year, Brittany and I had a near 20″ saugeye one league night.

Orange fire but it did not outperform the #5 FT Shad Rap. We caught a few saugs. Happy to see that.

Was out trolling yesterday afternoon and had fairly good luck. The fish seemed to be really scattered because we would pick up a couple in one area and would not get any more from that spot, even if we left that area for 20-30 minutes before returning. Mostly small Saugers/Walleyes with a few Saugers in the 15-16″ range. We also got 2, 19″ Walleyes. Most of the fish were caught in about 23 FOW but we caught fish anywhere from 18 FOW to 28 FOW. Bright colors were not working at all, almost all fish were caught on blue/silver or natural colors.

Sounds exactly like us except we never tried those colors and you got a couple bigger fish. I will try them next time out. Thanks.
