St Croix today was 684.17 feet and it has dropped -0.01 feet in the last 24 hours. Everything is pretty well flooded right now and the river is well over its banks. The prediction service is showing a steady drop in the forecast.

I’ve been out the last three nights and have picked up a few channel cats. There is not much flow right now considering how high the water is and I think the Mississippi must be holding back the St Croix’s flow. The water is fairly clear, not much grass or debris floating. I’ve been finding fish in my main channel spots and I think the reduced flow has them roaming the full river. I haven’t found any flatheads yet but the channel cats are hammering cut bait. This last week has been beautiful weather for chasing cats – warm temps, calm winds, and warming water.

    Nice fish!

Any idea if you can launch at boat at the Boomsite?

I did last night. No prob. Though getting under the Stillwater bridge is not a certainty unless you wait for it to lift. Or you can go to the far west end and motor under the higher arched sidewalk bridge.

You can launch your boat anywhere as long as you back in far enough!

Is the water over the islands. Think we will be over on Thursday looking for a place to get the kids wet. Most likely around william o brian.

Mike – No sand showing on any of the islands south of the High Bridge.

Unless the islands are completely under water there is always some sand somewhere. Biggest problem is getting there before everyone else does. If nothing else we will have a nice boat ride looking for some.
