I wanted to try my 3rd new sonar/gps for the year out this morning. Got into some eyes and never did get to play around with the darn thing!

6 eyes in 2 1/2 hours…one of them was short. Lindy rigs with a worm worked well today. Here’s a tip: Never fished deeper that 7 1/2 feet. Most fish came from 5.5 to 7 feet.

Call me crazy…but that is the depth.

Damn garbage fisherman are all over the place for the tourney. I told them all the bass were hitting like sunfish in the Hudson channel…eh…eh …eh….

I’m glad someone made it out, and caught some of those eyes I wanted to hunt for… I found a bunch of crappie fish on the lake, All it all it was a good decision to go to the lake, boy were “we” moving slow this morning, I don’t know if we would have made it in time to fish after we launched I’d like to head out tomorrow, but I’ll probably be too tired after only getting 2 hours of sleep today….

Brian were you casting in that shallow?? I plan on getting out tomorrow afternoon, just not sure where to fish at those depths.

No I had the trolling motor out (bow mount) moving about .5 to .7 mph.

I’m not sure where you are putting in at…but I think if you looked for rocky shore line and get to that depth you’ll be ok…if you don’t catch eye’s you’ll surly get into some smallies. Becarefull if you do get a smallie…keep it low or the damn bass fisherman will be all over you like cottenwood seeds to a air conditioner.
Just don’t drift into the rocks…But now that you mention it. I “HEARD” the these trash fish guys in the tourney have been pulling in “a lot” of eyes while casting for trash…Might want to try it.(?)

Brian, I’m not quite sure but I sense you hold some animosity toward bass fisherman and the specie in general….

Thanks Brian I’ll give that a try. I’m always between prescott and kinni. Red Lund rebel with a big white lab and 40 merc on the back. When is the bass tourney over? I meet a couple of them last night on 55, looks like they were heading out of town?

I watched one of them bass boys catch 2 nice eyes casting for smallies down in the kinni.I didnt see what he was throwing but was fishing for smallies. Both fish were 18-20 and he was giving them to some of the guys drifting the channel.

Can’t we please agree to refer to them as green carp rather than trash? I’d feel a whole lot better about that. Thanks! See ya’ll on the Croix in the AM.

    Greg…consider it done…Green Carp trash

By the way, I have never met a damn bass fisherman that I didn’t like…that’s how my dad always refers to them…not sure why…just keeping tradtion…I even fish for them once in a while…although I use a fly rod. Can’t keep a plug out of the trees and stuff….

Almost forgot….Greg? Is that a sheephead in your mug shot?

Yeah, it is a sheephead. Everyone has mug shots with big walleyes, or those hideous green carp , I thought I needed one with a little style! And for bass (green carp )fisherman…. those who aren’t good enough to catch walleyes gotta have something to fish for….

I like your style Greg. It take a true sportsman to catch sheepies of size and consistancy.

    However….

Disclaimers doen’t work here…I’m sure you have offended many a damn bass fisherman…I don’t know how they will respond…I hope with mercy for you… Heck, I went catfishing ONCE and chimed in on the cat board “just a few” times. Now I wear the label “catfisherman”. Guess it’s better that damn hideous green carp fisherman!

Your laughter can’t hide your malicious perogative Briank. I’m on to ya! Those “damn bass fisherman” are only looking for something that fights better than a wet rag! Not mention, this past time tends lend toward some casting skills. Eyes and cats……. well, they’re just not as common in this (unless you’re working wing dams). Therefore, I’m going stir the pot even more and say that only guys with “wall hangers” chase muskies! Bad attitudes that can slice and dice or spit hooks with enough force to stick to your aluminum boat! Half the fight is just freeing the fish!

    I’ll just borrow Greg716’s “useless” disclaimer now….

Kid, you can have the disclaimer. You can also have all my damn useless hideous green carp tackle. Although the disclaimer is likely worth more!

Greg buddy…….. don’t give away all that useless green carp tackle. They might not be any good for fishin fish but they make great parting gifts for “wayward” jet skiers!

Now, I’ll borrow the disclaimer again if’n you don’t mind?

Is there room in here for pleasure craft? Not the ones that actually go slow enough to not make a wake in the no-wake zone…or the ones that stay farther than 10 feet away from you…when they cut you off…just the other 100%…

Would this be a good use of tossing usless green carp tackle? I could even hit one of those casting…with a little practice.

    (Where did my disclamer go?)

Anyone know how the smallie action has been in the last week. Been out a few times with little success using everything from tubes and sluggos to crank baits near Prescott. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Rob

Mr Rob. I can’t tell you about the Kinni and South, but North of the Kinni on the MN side is the State Park and a rock shore line…that area is almost always good. Also the flooded timber around the second green can North of the Kinni. Use that same bait or cranks. You shouldn’t have a problem getting a few tugs out other there!

    good luck!

Like I said, Kid, you can use the disclaimer whenever you like. I like your style. You gonna be out Sunday looking for wayward jetskiers? I should be around Prescott,in the green SmokerCraft, unless we decide to try Pepin. I actually prefer swinging a 30# river anchor at the “pleasure craft”. I think I better borrow back my own disclaimer…..

You know me Kid, no matter what size hat I get..it’s never big enough. Always want something bigger and better!

    You been fishing lately?

Ps you would have been proud of me casting with Gator in the boat. He didn’t have to put his helmet on once! But he did warn me that if I got close or he had to duck once…I was in trouble!

I don’t see what the big deal is…just circle hooks…and I carry a needle and thread with me at all times?
