I’m getting a little slow in my postings…but …no excuses!

Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of taking Mr. Gianni and his freind from work, Steve on the Croix. My friend (yes I do have one) Kevin…Mr. Walleye, helped us out by suppling a boat and a location to fish.

One the way back to the dock (forgot pdf) Steve boated the first of a few shortie eyes. Gianni and I headed for the Hudson area to see what we could muster up there. Kevin and Steve joined us after checking the quality of the inside bottoms of their beer cans. They also brought along what I believe was a 16 or 17 inch sauger.

When John (Gianni) hooked into his first “big” one….I thought all of Hudson was going to come to the river to see what the noise was about.

I was very impressed. He was pumping….adjusting the drag…pumping somemore…then asked me to make sure the motor was out of the water….I have to say, there was a lot of tension in the boat for a while….

Did you see that smile! I doesn’t take much to make a fella from Iowa happy!

After having a couple more beers for celabration…we go back to some fishing.

This next picture has been altered. Just want to keep things up front on this site….

I took a picture of John dreaming of a 19.99 inch walleye…then edited the fish in. I think it looks real good…for a quick job….

Ok…’nuff horsing around. Gianni was the only one of the four of us to boat a keeper eye. Steve landed the 16 or 17 in sauger. Kevin landed numerous fish (that we couldn’t keep) and I found a couple short eyes.

Not alot of fish but good company, good view of the moon on the way home and with a hand shake, committed to doing it again.

Thanks for taking the time to enjoy the Croix guys! I hope you see (some) humor in the above and we’ll do it again!

I was really hoping to double-up on the clams, but that pesky walleye ruined my plans I guess variety is the spice of life.

Thanks for taking us out. I know that Steve appreciated it (made the comment that if he lived that close to the Croix he would probably not be taking the trip to Winnie this week). It makes those work trips almost tolerable.
