    Saturday:

Fished the W-eye knot fishing club tourney on Saturday which was from the Kinni as far down river as you would like to go. Fought the current on Pool 3 for the 1st few hours, even the back flow on the current seams was ripping 2+ mph Ended up on the Croix pulling live bait with 1 short walleye and 1 rock bass at the end of a long day of fishing.

    Sunday:

Brittany and I started out in Hudson channel jigging which only produced a 12-13″ white bass so it was off to pull lead. We got into a good bite for about an hour boating 2 legal eyes and a bunch 13 to 15″ eye’s. Sunday’s bite from the Kinni up was slow but much better than Saturday’s bite from the Kinni down. Things should pick up from here on out

How’d everyone else do on the Croix opener ?

I heard it was a slow bite for most

A 14″ white bass, muddypuppy, a short eye, and a slimy fishing rod on saturday.
Sunday was better #’s wise. In 5.5 hrs, 8 eyes came to the boat but none of them hit the 15″ mark. A couple whities around 13″, and NO sheepies for once. It was nice to have that much action considering the water temps. Dropping water and warmer temps should = a better bite by this weekend!

Sat was basically non existent, Sunday was slow but boated a couple shorts. Today was good, nephew and I boated 11 walleyes, 2 sauger, 2 smallies and a striper pulling lead. There has been no shallow bite to speak of, all of our fish came from 21+ ft.
Try again tomorrow morning, it’s close to turning on.

Biting on the point where your line entered the water!!! I think we snagged one reeling in!

I got one mooneye Sat. I told my buddy,”watch this it will start bleeding” and sure enough as soon as I grabbed it and the hook (over the side of the boat) blood everywhere.
    Those things crack me up.

Still nice out on the upper river. Water levels have dropped a foot or more. Main channel is clearing up so a person can troll cranks. Did have one dead deer come floating by us yesterday. It was as dead as the bite around Osceola. Also got to watch a big tom turkey strut his stuff on the bank for a couple of hens. That was cool. Water temps where right at 50 degrees with finding close to 55 in the back waters.

Conditions where fantastic but still no bite. No white bass. No walleyes. No saugers. Did see a few suckers getting caught at the Osceola landing. Might have to bring the night crawlers next time.

We did best on floating Rapalas on the opener. We boated three short walleyes and two big white bass. No keepers, but at least the rods bent a bit. It sure feels good to be back on the St. Croix River!
