Copas (Log House) Landing. This ramp is tough on its best day. Might actually be better in high water.

William O Brian. Landing looked great but the road was blocked off to get to it. Going to try and call over there tomorrow to find out if it will be open or not. No reason why it should be blocked off. There was even one empty trailer in the parking lot.

Boom site had a few rigs in the parking lot. Landing looked to be in good shape as I drove by. Missed the turn so did not get any photos.

Feel free to add any ramp info to this post.

Talked to the William O Brian this morning. They said the barricade is up to block parking in the lower lot. Just move it to use the landing. Got a feeling this is the ramp we will be using tomorrow if its not raining to bad.

Thanks for going to check it for us. Good to hear Osceola is usable the NPS site’s bulletin made is sound unusable.

Looks like they must have opened the dam this morning!

The dam in Red Wing has been wide open for several days. My guess is somebody, most likely a fisherman, made a trip to the Stillwater gauge and performed a little recalibration. Brian, have you made any trips to Stillwater lately?

It is always no wake from Arcola Sandbar all the way north to the St.Croix Falls Dam. So many people don’t follow that.

I’m guilty. The problem is how they state it. The Arcola high bridge to the dam? I never knew where the high bridge was even though I’ve fished by it many times. And how was I supposed to know? No maps and no clear info at the landings. At least when I was there.

There still isn’t at most ramps and out of two rangers I talked to not exactly enforced.

See that big white sign in the 1st picture I put up from the Osceola landing? Its all about the no wake speed up there. Pretty hard to miss at that landing.

I pointed that out to a guy once and I thought he was gong to kill me.

I have spend hours on that stretch just moving to a spot. It is part of the reason many people don’t want to put up with fishing there.

It is pretty clear just because it is not enforced does not mean it is ok.

Most people follow the rules up there. The ones that dont dont seem to cause that big of problem. Been told by the patrol most of there concern is with wakes swamping the canoes. If they didnt have any kind of speed restriction that could be a huge issue.

This was about 4 years ago when I figured it out. It took 5 minutes of reading everything on the sign to realize that it was no wake. I don’t remember that exact sign either. I remember there being some paper fliers inside.

Why can’t they just put a sign with great big letters that reads NO WAKE!

There’s a concept. Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal anyway.

The sign that is up now is better than what was there. Not sure why they dont just go no wake. Would much rather see the way it is now. Leaves plenty of grey area. Leisure speed is a vague term. Lot less tickets for those that want to push the leisure speed.

Probably because he was trying to enjoy his day on the water and didn’t feel like being “citizen arrested” for a mostly irrelevant rule. And how exactly is it “pretty clear just because it is not enforced does not mean it is ok”. If anything, that’s probably a tacit admission that it is generally ok. Your type of fisherman really blows me — mind your own business. I fish out there all the time. Half the time you cant even go fast cause the water is too low anyway. But if it is high enough, I’m surely not gonna putt-putt all the way down to the swing bridge, just because there is an unenforced sign saying I’m supposed to.

So I am minding my business and get soaked by the wake. It is my business. Don’t like the rules don’t fish there.

The reason “your type of fisherman really blows you” is because they wouldn’t let you get away with breaking the law.

Whether it’s the unenforceable law of leaving trash on the ice or poaching over limits.

Follow the laws or get them changed. Leading by breaking the law….really blows me.

As of Saturday night the water was well into the parking lot at Somerset Landing. The high water makes for easy use of the “secondary” launch, that isn’t really a landing. There were 30′ logs coming down the river. I can’t remember if the River was ‘83.5 or ‘82.5 though.

Kinda funny. it shows a future but it’s missing the actual past. Well, the rectangle in the upper left corner shows what the current stage is. Normally it history is right on. The predictions are GENERALLY a little on the high side.
