I took a run up to the Boomsite today and the main channel is open upstream of Boomsite Bay. The Boomsite DNR launch site is still full of ice and I don’t think you could run out to the main channel quite yet but we are getting close. I’ve got the bug bad – I’ll race you all to open water!!

Saw muskrat lodge in the ice that floated down to stillwater bridge today–still grey ice from there down.
The migrating ducks, cranes and blackbird flocks were holding around some open farm ponds in St. Croix County WI and creeks were flowing like crazy.
Near Hammond in one farmyard about 30 wild turkeys gathered with several of the biggest strutting around with full tail feather display.
Where’s that rain that was supposed to have knocked everything loose?

River is forecast to come up to about 679′ by Sunday. That will be starting to put the islands under water. Things are opening up upstream – still a lot of ice floating.

Mike – Water temp is 41 degrees so she is melting pretty fast. I’m uncovering the pontoon on Thursday and she will be in the water by Friday I hope. Spring is coming!!
