Hudson Ramp

Another post got me fired up about this again. Any word if the greedy city council will consider lowering non-res yearly launch fee to a reasonable number? How about something monumental like a flat rate access fee instead of charging additional to people that live within site across the river?

If they dont, they deserve a flooded/closed ramp much of this seasn like last year.

Just curious, if you come from the West, why not just swing into Bennies and give them your business. Hudson is ussualy to busy anyhow.
Did get me thinking, what did we have to pay for yearly resident sticker last year. Think it was $105.00 which wouldn’t break even until you launched at least 10 times (think it was $10.50 last year), which I think I used at least 18 times If my memory serves me right making my last 8+ free.
Guessing like verything, it will go up… again

I do use Beanies instead but that onlys saves .50 cents and decent parking is not ensured. And with Beanies you have a lot more no-wake to head north of town.

Would be nice to launch Beanies for fishing south of no-wake and Hudson for fishing north. It just seems so wrong to charge so much for a yearly and for cities to differentiate between in-state vs out of state. Especially when you consider they have special no-charge parking for city residents. Last year was first for annual non-res. If they came up with a reasonable price then more people like myself would buy it and they would make more money than they are now. I’m suprised they dont bulldoze the volley ball court to make room for more launch suckers.

I hear That!!! I maybe once or twice have seen that actualy in use, and there’s so many other better locations for a volleyball court.
How much more was out-of-state versus wi resident?
Your probabaly gunna get you wish anyhow with the Flood statement. I’ll be down there this week and will post what my findings are regarding 2013 rates.

Also, the city residents don’t get no charge parking. They use to get reduced, but I think they took out those reserved spots if I’m not mistaken. 1st come, 1st serve.
Still slightly reduced though… I beleive.
That’s right, thier taxes are paying for it, not yours or mine (well maybe some of mine being a WI resident).

Hudson City residents pay 70.00 for an annual permit. The rate for non-city residents is 105.00 for an annual permit. Don’t expect the city council to change anything. It won’t happen. They are still trying to figure out what to do with the sailboat dingies parked on the dike. The resident parking spots are gone too.

    Hey Kirk
That’s what last years rates were. Do you know if that will hold for 2013? Just curious.
    Thanks.

Dont you mean figure out how to charge the sailboat folks for their beached dingys?

Love the town. Hate the ramp situation and the fact they go out of their wasy to eliminate free access to the river including no parking for natural ramp on the end of the street in town and the whopping 4 parking spaces for ferry boat. Not to mention the private lot next to the freeway that is usually closed or requires high payment as well. Public water my ***.

Wasn’t there a new free DNR landing and ramp in the plans for under the new St. Croix crossing bridge?

The sailboats cost between 500 – 600 per year for the mooring rights. Its always been implied that includes the ability to keep their dingies on the dike. I don’t think they have ever had problems with them. Other than their owners are a bunch of aholes.

Mike, I thought I read in the paper there weren’t plans to increase the fee to launch this year. It would be safe to say there won’t be plans to decrease the fees either.

I sure hope this is true! And for fishing rigs only! Although I’m an early riser it would be nice to not have to be on the water by 7 am to ensure a parking spot. Especially since the fish bite during bankers hours! Those 2-3 hours could be spent on the honey do list in the morning, and leave me a nap time in the afternoon!

Anybody know when the stickers will be available?

It more than paid for itself last year and I don’t have to hear my trailer drag on the launch like at the Bluffs…or get there early to sit at a gate…

North of both the bridge and The King Plant. It was to be on the border of Oak Park Heights and Stillwater just north of Sunnyside Marina. It will be a crowded launch if they make it. From what I remember boats over 20 foot would be very tough to launch and park. Not sure what is going on but it was to be built by Stillwater and maintained by the DNR.

Stillwater’s city council has postponed plans for developing the new launch near Stillwater. A few weeks ago a council member explained there are too many variables that need to be addressed with construction of the new bridge. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see the new public access until 2016 or later.

Here’s a link to the original site plan, which is now subject to change: http://www.ci.stillwater.mn.us/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC=%7BD6F86899-97DA-4E51-A77E-4E9D0921DDC0%7D

Somebody realized they mistakenly offered it as a free site instead of FEE site. They’ll wait until things cool down then resubmit.

Public boat access (locational study, environmental study and wetland mitigation by

    MnDNR)

    Funding solely by the DNR

    $1,200,000 MnDNR During construction.

    DOAH!!

That amount of money better be more than a study and have room for 100 boats and flushing toilets over looking the water.

Forgive me but what is the NPS ?

    Just clicked in my head.

    NPS = National Park Service
