I finally have the chance to get out tomorrow afternoon and do some fishing on the river. Mostly, I want to catch some fish, any suggetion? Do I fish the Kinni area or Hudson narrows? Any bait preferences.

    Thanks ahead of time.

For the most numbers of fish I’d hit the Kinni. Try a jig/minnow combo early, then i’d switch to a lindy rig with either a crawler or leech.

The Hudson narrows were O.K. for me on Saturday trolling cranks but slowed down considerably on Sunday. Make sure if you can to get out early, sounds like most people had the best luck in the low-light conditions.

Got skunked by the kini yesterday, I did see a couple fish caught, but nothing of size or value. A couple people I talked to were doing fair on a lindy rig set-up, another did fair with trolling.

The fishing will improve in the coming weeks, there are reports that saugers were plentiful at Osceola, if this is the case it will be 1 week for North of Stillwater and 2 weeks for Hudson, so the Hudson should go good by Minnesota opener. The water is low so the fish will be holding up in the Holes or near current breaks (Dunes, sandbars, around points, Rock piles. We had 12 on Sat but six saugers were kept. They are spooky in the shallow water so don’t try to
move in on a rockpile with the main engine, electric in, anchor ahead , or long line your favorite spots. 53 degree water on sat. When the leaves are all out fishing gets good that 55-60 degree water.
