What’s the main forage base for walleye’s and smallies on the Croix? Just trying to get a better understanding of the forage base and where they might be in this high water.

The upper croix i would say minnows. They are always thick up there. Its nothing to be able to grab one out the water to hook onto your line.

From what I am hearing crawlers are working well. Primary forage is definitely shad minnows. The bait clouds can get massive. Craw imitations are great for smallies. Tubes or sweet beaver or chigger craw like platstics.
