The area I have been fishing is still giving up fish in zero to 3 fow. However the fishing is just a tad slower which could be any number of reasons including operatpor error.

5 to 9 ft today. 7 all together ranging from 17″ to 19 inch to were shorts, of course got let go to grow up.. Only bit on the bronze black rap. Did not touch anything else. Oddly only 2 smallies in the shallow. They just shut down after 1pm. Water seems to be dropping fast.

Up in Osseola exploring backwaters Tuesday was able to putts around using the 8 horse on the john boat but last night we had to use the go devil in the same spots. We were looking for short nose gar spawning and found them and what a sight to see. Nature at its best.
Yes I know the DNR says the St.Croix no longer have short nose gar. Their wrong.

Where did you get this info? I had not heard that. There are lots of longnose and some shortnose. There are even shovelnose Sturgeon in the croix now and getting to be more common.

DNR biologist that got pushed out because his views were not inline with their testing methods and AIS testing. I should say he was offered a job off field at higher pay and he refused so he could stay in the field. They want him back at a different position but the politics out way going back.

Their testing methods, as of boom shocking, do not effect Gar or sturgeon the same way as other species so the count is a askew.

Hey, There are many things held back from the public. For what ever reason they do this I have a clue. Reports are there in fine print if you want to search for it. Good luck on that!

I’m trying to coax him nicely to release a few tidbits on his files but its a know go. He tells me the book is in motion of his experience of being employed of the MDNR.

Does this biologist work for the DNR or not?
In the past I have looked at the paper files in the fisheries dept. This was before a lot of the info was online. It he is still there that data is ours (public) I’m pretty sure it cannot be withheld. They might not put it online if they don’t want to. It may be worth a trip to the headquarters if you are interested to look in person. I have always been treated well during my trips down there with any questions.

    Ferny.
