I have been out twice after work this week. Scored excellent meat both times which was my goal. No numbers. Hitting it again tonight. Just crawlers.

Went out last night from 5 – 8. Tried fishing some new spots north of the RR bridge. Didn’t catch anything up there. We fished with crawlers also. Picked up 1 fish in the channel on the way in. Probably won’t be out again until Sunday. Should be a great night tonight to get stocked up on crawlers.

On Saturday I picked up a 15″ sauger on a jig and minnow in about 11 fow. What depth are you having the most luck?

i was in the channel yesterday from 2 til 6. i didn’t catch a walleye but that is not unusual. i had some leeches and crawlers. it didn’t seem like a lot was biting. got a couple of smallies and sheeps. I saw Turk south of the 94 bridge. I assume he is catching fish. I didn’t get close enough as he had clients. talked to one rat at the launch and he had a limit. 17″ to 21″ fish. One other guy had one fish and was looking to give it away. he ended up releasing it. looked to be about a 17″ fish. long story short I don’t believe they are jumping in the boot

Last night I stuck it out in one spot because I was marking fish. After an hour of absolutely nothing they turned on. 4 bites and two fish in about 20 minutes? Then it went off again.

The fish are there, but I think they might be holding to specific spot on spots…

I did manage 5 of 6 keepers yesterday morning from one 75 yard stretch. It seemed I was guaranteed a minimum of one bite per pass. The problem I had was the fish didn’t want a whole crawler and I shortened it and increased my hook up ratio. The last fish came from a crank and was the only one on a crank.

I wanted to explore new areas, but it was too hard to leave active fish.

I know about spot on spot. I can picture the tree. Tonight that tree put out 2 shorts.

Very slow today on the St.Croix…launched at Windmill. Didn’t talk to anyone that caught much. Guy I was fishing with landed a 16″ suger in about 16fow on a minnow, I caught 2 bluegills on crawlers. By 12:30 it was so slow and cold we packed her up!

Occasional slabs and lots of rock bass on the 20′ ledges…both crappie minners and fatheads work fine mouth hooked. Tied a small white popper on below some large split shots. Near cover, as soon as you lift off bottom–BAM! Use the rockies for fertilizer with your fish guts in your rhubarb patch but be careful not to spill any liquids–the coons and cats will disenterr fer sure! Hey guys, either the momma slabs are already mostly spawned out or they’re really late so try to kiss and release the ones with the genetics to grow big!!! Rock Bass fillets need love, too.

Got out on the Croix for the 1st time since ice fishing on 5/5. Fished from 9:30 till the rain started. Lot’s of people on the water so I fished some areas that I never fished before and found 3 eye’s 15.5″-17″ willing to take some crawlers. Wasn’t fast and furious for me by any means but seeing as they were new to me spots I was happy to catch fish. Talked to a guy who was hitting lot’s of spots putting on a clinic.

Finally made my St. Croix maiden voyage for 2012 today. Plan was to fish crawlers but never got to the live bait. Fish were taking cranks today. Had two shorts on shad raps in 13′ on first pass, didn’t like the wind pattern there so we went shallow.

Ended up keeping 6, 15″-18″ with several shorts and northern and bass in the mix. All keeper eye’s came from less than 7 fow.

Good to be back on the croix!!

Can’t seem to dial in the walleye, but we did find this 11.25+” perch mixed in with some smaller ones last Sun, how big do the perch get out there?

I picked up a couple just shy of 12″. Thought I was onto something after the second one, but only the two.
