Isnt Pool 3 closed-or is it just a small section right after Pool 2 before the confluence w/ the St Croix??????? Are the back waters on the MN side open for fishing?

Pool 3 is open year around from the confluence at the St. Croix down. That includes backwaters.

Yes the only piece of water closed around there is from Prescott up to the dam. That doesn’t open until Minnesota opener. At least those dam spawners aren’t massacred. Nice sanctuary for pool 3.

Well, I don’t know if I saw you…but I did see the two dogs!

I didn’t do any fishing just working the webs out of the boat. I have to run down to Hastings to pick up a part that came in for my motor…Sounds like I’m not missing much…except the weather.

What do you think of that condo building? I hope they don’t plan on painting it yellow! Yuck!

Sandbar and I were there last night in my boat. No fish.
How bout those roofers? You couldn’t get me up there.
I’m gonna miss the old stone building.
Oh yea wasn’t the road to the ramp special? Never thought I would be driving my truck under the train bridge.

I didn’t launch from there…but when I was down there a week or so ago, it looked like the launch was close because of all the construction signs. Obviously it’s not.
I can’t recall the name of the restaurant that was down there, but it was the first place I ever had GRILLED prime rib. I can barely eat meat that’s cooked medium, so grilling it to med well to well was just right. Best “steak” I’ve ever had. Couple weeks later, took my folks down there and it was closed for good…then it was gone for good. I think it was a grain mill back in the 1800’s.

    Roofers…there’s a rare breed!

Have you been using live bait or cranks?

I think that place was called Jacques (Jakes?) supper club. I enjoyed it too.

I’m pretty sure the place was called R.C.’s River Front. I stopped in there numerous times for a burger and I’ll miss it too.

I was down to the Prescott ramp a few weeks ago and a bunch of the parking stalls where taken-up by construction material. Is that still the case or did they move it? The WI opener is only a couple of weeks away and the place will be packed then. I hope parking doesn’t get to be more of a problem down there but I’m sure the condos won’t help any. It seems like somebody has eliminated all the overflow parking that was available between the road and the rail road tracks. I wonder if they can legally rope that off or if it’s a public right-of-way. If it’s a right-of-way can they close it to public use? Anybody know anything about this?

    Thanks,

    Boone

Yup Boone, RC’s Riverfront was the name. My wife and I were trying to recall it, thanks! Only went there twice before it closed.

I was boating by the launch on Tuesday and the parking lot seemed free of all construction equipment, but I didn’t launch there, so I can’t answer the road question.
Except that when building a project, they would have had it in there plans and have the cities approaval (for safety reasons) to block of a street they way they did.

Might want to have a backup launching ramp picked out!

We had a few hours this afternoon so we tried below Prescot and it was terrible. Didn’t catch a fish and not positve I even had a bite. Worked the wingdams and the current seams with nothing to show for it. I think I’ll give the place a couple of weeks and try it again. Sure makes a guy appreciate Pool 4. We are headed that way tomorrow morning to try and erase todays memory. The weather was sure nice though and it wasn’t crowded.
