Hey, as a “semi-newby” to the north-land I’m looking for some quick Croix info… Is the discharge channel for the King powerplant a “hot” place for white bass this time of year??? I have family in town and was looking for a fishing alternative to chasing walleyes on Pool 2. Any info/suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
Hey Big E…I don’t know how quick I am…just got back in town myself.
I seldom fish the discharge there, but everyone that I do fish with says there’s always something biting there.
It can be tough fishing though…………. lemme explain…………
This time of year, that channel gets absolutely FLOODED with Shad. “Get your net and scoop out a pile – thick!” With all that forage around, yeah…………. there’s something biting, but they’re not going to chase down anything. They’ve got a ton of food for the taking, fill up in a hurry, and go rest somewhere else. If you can stay with the outside area of “the shad pool”, you’ll find active fish, but my recommendation is to mimic the shad or you might be in for a long day.
