It appears as if the MN access to the St.Croix is closed. Talked to a few guys and they say it is barricaded. Looks like the only access by vehicle this winter will be in North Hudson…….hopefully they DON’T find a way to screw that up to. I hope this is not permanent

I was down there yesterday and the access road off of 3rd Street South (Hubbs point Drive) is barricaded shut with a sign saying No River Access. I drove over to Lakeside Park near Beach House Marina and they have barricades up all along the swimming beach end of Lake Street South with a sign saying No River Access. I think they are trying to keep the snowmobiles and 4 Wheelers from going down to the river over the beach access point.

I’ve got a feeling Hubbs Point Drive is lost to us as an access point.

How do you get out on the river there anyways in the winter. never could figure out where people drive out. Always had to walk out from the park.

Mike – I made a post back on 02/06/09 titled “Directions to Bayport St Croix Ice Fishing Access” that will give you directions to the access. It won’t do you much good now unless they decide to open it. I just bumped it back to the top on the St Croix forum. Maybe we need everybody to call the Bayport City Manager and voice their concerns.

The Bayport City Hall telephone number is 651-275-4404 and the e-mail address is: [email protected]

Here is the link to their website: http://bayport.govoffice.com/

Unbelievable. Removing that access is un-American. And I’m not kidding.

I sent an email though I’m sure it falls on deaf ears.

I sent an email to the city as well. I seem to remember a lot of whining from the Townhome complex residents last year about that access.

I think this falls under the same heading as: building your home next to a gun club then shutting them down because of the noise.

This is the deal. The road will open as soon as we can drive on the ice. They do not want people parking on the private land on shore and walking out. Pray for some COLD!

I received the same info in reply to my email to the city. They will remove the barricades when the ice is thick enough to drive on.

I’ll be darned. That is good news. Even makes sense. Though I am not super thrilled about someone else telling me when I can drive on ice. Still, I’ll take it.
