For some reason I cannot reply to your original thread. Wanted to add that during the normal season you can only boat up just downstream from high bridge. The DNR mans a checkpoint there and does not allow boaters past to block the spread of exotics. You have to launch north of that position to fish there.

The strech of river from Osceola north is a nice strech of river to boat on. It is not to far from Taylors falls And there are a few cliffs to boat by on the way up. If you put in at Osceola and leisure speed up to Taylors falls it would most likely be a half day.

If you wanted a longer ride may be start at William O Brian and head up to taylors falls. This might be closer to a full day. You will go under a old train bridge and by a few old cabins in the strech before Osceola.

Hot spots does have a map on this section of the river. It is not 100 % right on but will help you out.

I would also suggest making your first trip on the upper croix during high water. During low water some of the main channels can run 2’deep.

The Chisago county sheriff patrols from William O Brian to Taylors Falls. They have a jet boat for that strech of river. They do make it out there a few times a year and will stop people for speeding. I think I have seen him with a game warden in the boat also.
