I flew in from Louisville via Detroit today…(12 hour flight, but that’s another story). We came in smack dab over the 94 bridge. Because I was on the left (faceing south) that’s all I could see.

Each area with current, Hudson channel, Afton area and Kinni all have about 3/4 to a mile of open water. All the ice had the grey…soggy look to it. I tried to get my camera out fast enough but couldn’t quite jumb over the lady next to me fast enough.

Of course Prescot was ice free from just north of the bridge into the sippi.

Looks to me like Sunday is going to be the day!

I was at the Bluffs yesterday. River looked open for as far as I could see. Lagoon still froze up. Water is definitely not high. Free bath for my dog.

I cross early enough in the morning that it’s hard to see but it appeared to be ready for the winds to break her apart Monday afternoon. I’ll take another peek on the way home tonight and see how it looks. On Monday I was thinking a stiff South wind could push north and break it up.

I checked with the folks at the Windmill Marina.

There’s still ice in many spots according to them. No boat activity in the Afton area.

They will be moving the docks in storage and the slip in front of their launch in two weeks….

Man, How long is winter going to last!
