Got out on the water around 1pm yesterday and started pulling cranks right away to see if we could find some eyes. Within the first few hundered yards we had a keeper in the boat. In the next 2 1/2 hours we caught another 15 short eyes a few smallies and a few rock bass. We decided to head back down river to troll the same area again and they had definitely shut down or moved we ened up with one more keeper and 5 more shorts. Gold and black cranks produced the most with firetiger second. 4 to 10 fow with most coming from 4 to 6 fow. Overall i was happy with the day and will be heading back today after the girls family leaves and i pick up a few more cranks.
Papermouth slabs have defintely headed to the deeper water. We did find them at shoreline break in Stillwater last week in between afternoon T-storms. Anyone using raps for crappies in the upriver brush?
This week has started off with a much stronger bite than last. I attribute it to cooler temps, overcast, and some wind. Plus the falling water seems to be placing the fish on the breaklines. 18 to 25 feet, rigs and cranks. Good luck
Out yesterday from I-94 to US 10. Crawlers/leeches in 23 – 30 FOW kept us busy w/ 14/15″ eyes, action enough since it was a c&r day anyway. Quiet up north, all action was so of Kinni. Great day on the Croix.
