Caught this toothy critter in a bass tourny last Saturday on the St Croix….approx 52″, weight and girth unknown, C & R, caught at 8 AM on a chug bug and she put on a good fight, never landed a fish that big. Any guesses on the weight?

maybe more than 30 lbs? it’s a heck of a specimen. glad you were able to let her go. sometimes they swallow the smaller bass baits and it’s hard to keep em alive.

Looks like you caught her on light spin gear…that could be a world record fish on 8-10lb test

How did you land her? There must be a heckuva story there!

I gotta take up bass fishing…

Very nice catch and release. I would say 30-32 pounds also.

I have caught a 50″ and it was 30# on the head. This one should be a few lbs more. Nice fish either way.

    Tom,
Caught with 12lb P-Line on a medium heavy spinning rod. This was the 3rd muskie to follow up my chug bug in a span of less than 100 yards…. this was more a team effort….fortunately I had a partner that has caught a couple over 50″…. he was able to follow the fish with the trolling motor while manning the net…she made 3-4 good runs and after about 20 minutes tired and went head first into the net…honestly all I could think about was please don’t break off my favorite black chug bug….It was a wet day but the fishing was good!!
