Leeches are great bait but they can also be trouble in the current when river fishing, you can fish them improperly and not get bite by anything but sheepsheads… Here is what happens. They spin in heavy current when trolled fast or even not so fast, as they are not streamlined. Be aware not to spin your leech when you are fishing by trolling them too quickly. This situation applies lake or river, but this issue pops up faster when current is involved.

Great tip! If u dont know if ur going to fast put your weight/leech combo in the water at that speed and watch ur leech. With rigging i pay attention more to the leech because it needs to be natural. Pulling spinner i run borderline.

Other than speed control, are there other ways to limit the spinning? Do you not fish with swivels as an example? Or does that create other issues?

Good seeing you on the water weekend before last Turk! Softball kept me off this weekend!

Swivels are a must when rigging. The main point is speed control.

Not sure I want to play softball in this heat tonight!lol. I got a game.
