Dont you just love shore fishing when a boat full of people putts up and pretty much takes over the spot youre fishing? A big thank you goes to those 3 old minnesota boaters that just had to fish 10 feet from me. Now, youd think since they have a boat, and a fish locater, annnnd access to the entire river they could wet their lines somewhere else. i guess my one 15″ eye really made them anxious. good luck to anyone else who tries to fish the shore with fishermen like this around.

Tie on the heaviest jig you have and thump the side of their boat a couple of times!
April 30, 2011 at 8:21 pm #962133my fishing partner suggested I pitch my jig into their boat, but Im not that cruel of a person. I landed some casts within 3 feet of their boat so they would get the hint, but when the driver noticed he just looked towards the shore and smiled. I should of took a pic and sent it to tosh.0 for their dick of the week.
April 30, 2011 at 9:05 pm #962141As we all know, there are inconsiderate people in every sport or walk of life. they do chap your a$$!

Great show and a great idea
May 1, 2011 at 1:25 am #962197I was once anchored about 40 feet from shore casting towards shore for gills and crappies. Had 2 guys bass fishing go between me and the shore. They waved and laughed as they passed by. All they were doing was catch and release, they could have just as easily went around me.
May 1, 2011 at 1:48 am #962204happens to every1 but gotta remember u don’t own the water and the law states u can fish within 10ft. of some1 else…hate to say it but u must not ever go to redwing and play bumper boats. lol i understand what your saying but nothing to get too excited about
May 1, 2011 at 2:27 am #962215The one and only time I took a boat out on the stcroix we stopped underneath the 94 bridge, wrong idea, everyone on their trolling runs came by close enough to shake hands. I was just surprised boat fishermen would rush the shore that quick that close at the simple sight of one 15″ walleye.
May 1, 2011 at 3:34 am #962221Go to a bad spot. Hook a silvery dishrag on and let the current take it out. Set the hook. Jump up and fight it all the way in. Be careful and do the “fishermen’s hide” when you beach it. Stick it in your bucket and move on to another spot. You should have plenty of room then.
Oh and i totally would have pulled all of their lines in.

Don’t fish near Prescott either. I went ONE time last spring and was amazed at the sheer ignorance. It was like musical chairs. Nice even flow of boaters until some person was fighting a fish. Everyone stopped and I heard people saying “What’s he got, watch him” when people found out it was a walleye (the music stopped!) all hell broke loose, and within seconds people motored up onto them. I really could not believe what I saw!!! I don’t have the temperment to be able to handle people like that. No fish is worth that kind of insanity.
This was a day after a near disastrous trip at Red Wing. Same thing there, only ten times the boat traffic. I really don’t know what is worse on the river, the big cruisers, or the walleye fishing experience. Although I will say I had a great experience from Dean at Evert’s. Great guy, super nice to my son!
May 1, 2011 at 2:43 pm #962262And here I always thought those ” old guys ” just needed their glasses prescription adjusted when they walk up next to where you have been fishing and set up camp, then cast their lines over mine. Now I understand….it was really just a ploy to get me to move from “their” spot !

That’s funny! Great idea
riverdanPosts: 295May 1, 2011 at 11:15 pm #962384It drives me crazy and yes I have found that it has been getting worst. Walleyes are gold and when weekend warriors see that gold the rush is on and their not shy about it either, I was even told several times that they caught them here yesterday, I said thats strange cause I’m out everyday and don’t remember seeing you around! thats why I like fishing during the week everyone is working

I agree, no tuna boats or “scientific fisherman”

Often times getting away form the crowd pays dividends. It is also a good ethic to leave the guides be, as they are trying to make a living. Instead of crowding them, hire them!
