pre-spawn, spawn, or post-spawn staging walleyes in the croix? I saw five 18-21″ walleyes come out of a lake not too far away from hudson earlier today and the males were leaking milt everywhere. hopefully the bite is good regardless.

I can’t imagine where you saw this happen legally, especially with the word lake involved. Lake Pepin might be the only possibility I can come up with…….help??

only shocking research we’ve done has been in the trimbelle and parker creeks. we have 24/7 access to a backpack shocker for small streams but nothing big enough for shocking the croix. Sorry but I wasnt one of the boomsite poachers, although I did watch an angler catch and release 4 eyes/saugers within 40 minutes with one hitting 24″ a week ago.

I’ll say typically post-spawn. That’s why I can’t ever seem to catch them in legal keeping size anyway.

sure….i dont know if you can call it backpack shocking if the batterie only lasts an hour so how was pulling in that fyke net in the pouring rain yesterday with a boat that has no reverse

I know right, more like temporary electric current. wasnt too bad,I didnt pull it in they did. For as crappy as it was though there was alot of tree swallows eating bugs off the lake, plus the 5 eyes helped. Zero on the walleyes today though, nets were empty except for a 37″ northern pike, which leads me to assume post-spawn conditions for tomorrow.
