Do the crappies in the river spawn @ the same water temps as lakes do?

What are you looking for when the “Magic Temps” arrive ?

    Slack water ?
    Dead still water ?
    Timber ?
    Mud ?
    Sand ?

I got my 3 year old grand daughter a UL St. Croix from Dean at Evert’s and I would love to get her on a bobber bite this spring..

I rarely ever fish pannies from open water so I am green as green can be

You’re green? Isn’t that a PACKER color? I thought you bleed purple being from Tinysota and all

Check your PM’s Pahoo. I’m a sucker for 3 year olds sporting a new UL from Dean. You won’t be “green” for long

Thanks fellas,I think I might get my little boy out with me this spring on the river and do some experimenting. I have never tried to panfish on the river myself.

Something I remember from when i was a kid for spawning pannies…..when the Lilacs are in bloom it’s a decent bet the crappies and sunnies are spawning. It may not be an exact science, but it’s fairly accurate and easy to remember

That’s the water temps that the females will go in and lay the eggs. The males will start making nests at 56 to 58 degree “consistant” water temps.
Depth to fish will be determined by what species you’re after ie white or black and water clarity.

Why don’t you top it off with a picture of Sandbar’s house boat with directions to his liquor cabinet while you are at it.
