For a first timer wanting to fish the St.Croix I get the impression that The Bluffs is the place to go . How far is the bluff from Prescott ? I don’t know how many times l would fish the Croix ,not many I’m guessing. So is the Bluff’s the place to go ?

The Bluffs is a nice boat launch, but does fill up fast on weekends starting in May. It is only 5 dollars a day to access the park and use the boat launch. Most nice weekend days the parking lot will be full and you can’t launch there after around noon. If you want to fish the upper part of the river north of hudson if may be better to launch up that way due to there being two no wake zones to idle through.
April 15, 2011 at 2:16 pm #957477A year long park pass is around $25 (WASH Co MN), from the Bluffs to Prescott is around a 5-10 minute boat ride depending on your ride. It does get busy on the weekends, be early or I’ve also had luck late afternoon when the sunburned drunk barge people come off.

Correction:
2011 Launch Prices
Monday-Friday Any Length $14
Weekends/Holidays 24′ & Under $21
Weekends/Holidays 25′ & Over $29
Sure, but $25 a year is a lot better at the Bluffs.

Depends on where you want to fish. The launches are spaced out. For example you wouldnt want to launch Hudson if fishing Prescott. The Bluffs is a good half way point but still a long ways from north of Hudson because of no wake zones. I decide where I want to fish then launch accordingly. Without a doubt he Bluffs is the best boat landing on the river. Possibly one of the best in the state because of the natural lagoon that completely protects the ramps and the incredible layout all the way around. Everything about that park is impressive. My only issue is when they open which can be a real problem early season. Every year on opener there is a huge line of trailers waiting for the park to open the gates.

Since when did money become an issue?
The dock hands at the Bluff’s aren’t worth $25. per year.

One could argue the same about a certain hand down at Everts!!

Does anyone know if the Bluff is open the year around ? Hours ?
Bluffs has a 11PM witching hour, and 6AM start time during the season. The launch is not open during the winter months, the access is blocked and the road is not plowed (I’m working on this!) That said, how many would be willing to pay extra for an after hours pass? Serious question.

Mike, the last time I bought a seasonal it was $30 and $10 for non res.
I heard it had gone up…what’s it at $50?
It’s lighted and with the police patrol personally I think $50 for the season is reasonable for the dock, lights and patrol although it always hurts when a person was paying less before.
Remember I’m the frugal guy that doesn’t like paying more for anything.
If it was $300 a year, I’d still be first in line for the season pass
