Anybody getting out on the Croix for Sturgeon?
Was out all night south of 94 2 weeks ago and was slow with Shad impossible to find.
Red Wing dam was the same the next night.
Would like to see a good cold snap to drop the water temps.

I’ve been out 5 nights a week and will say that this Sept has been the slowest for me in 15 years. We are still finding fish, but not not the numbers and size I’ve been accustomed to. Average catch rate in the past has been 1-2 sturgeon per hour and this year more like .5-1 per hour.

We have found a few over 55 and did get an awesome 64 on Saturday.

Water tmeps, lack of rainfall, lack of Shad, algae blooms are likely the biggest factors. I was starting to get worried that a good chunk of the big fish had moved down into the Miss, but last night we had giants surfacing all around us so that made me feel better that the fish are still there, but just in a funk right now.

3Rivers are much of your fish coming on crawlers or all coming on shad ? Have you found cut drum works ? Need to get out and try it again .

Things have really picked up on the Croix, especially in terms of size! October was much better than Sept.

Catching more 50s and a few 60s too and everything lately has been on Shad. The Shad are crazy big this year though (9-11″) and difficult to catch, even with Livescope.

Totals so far this Fall is
    276 Sturgeon with 32 over 50″ and 5 over 60″.

Here’s a giant we caught a few days ago.
