My Lund had the same seats. I never used anything to lube them, but I didn’t move them around much. The few times I did, I wish I had used something to lube them!

Lift, rock-rock, wiggle, lift, cus, lift, rock-rock wiggle, lift cus some more.

I would use a very light coating of a heavy grease. Wheel bearing or something similar. I think silicone will dry out after a short time.

The problem with greasing them is that dirt/sand/grime will stick to any grease. I know it is tempting, but I would avoid it.

I rubbed the bases with an old candle or a block of paraffin wax. Dirt doesn’t stick to it like it would oil or grease.

Paraffin wax X 2. Never had a problem.

I always try and take some emery cloth and clean up both the post and the base each spring. I then wipe down the post with WD40. I think I will try the wax idea after I do the clean up on them this spring.
