    Hi all of you,
I’m just arriving in your forum!
I own a 2008 Crestliner fishing boat “Super Hawk 1800”. It is always stored in the garage on it’s trailer during summer and winter. Starting last year, I’ve noted a strong fuel odour in the garage. I checked deeply in the bilge for fuel leaks; there was none! I’ve removed the floor panels to check the fuel hoses connections; all OK! This last winter, I’ve parked the boat outdoor leaving only the ATV and snowmobile in the garage; no odour at all! Last sunday I’ve parked again the boat in the garage and…full fuel odour!!!

Is here anyone who had that problem with his boat? Is there a solution? Since there is no fuel leak, the fuel tank vent is probably the cause!!!

Thanks for reading my post and… help me finding a solution!

    Paul

    Thank you Milemark_714!
Is that means that your Lund tank was defect? Did you change it? If you look the Moeller Marine Products site, you’ll see that their fuel tanks are protect from permeation.

In the other hand, did you had an exterior or interior vent. In the 90, I had a very nice Alumacraft Trophy 170 and I never noticed any smell. It was equiped with an exterior vent (trought the hull)

Finally, I’m surprised that nobody seems to have any comment on that problem.

I have a 03 Lund prov and from time to time have a gas smell in the compartments, not in the garage it self. I would guess that crestliner and Lund use the same gas tanks and gas lines.

There was/is discussion about this problem on other sites.I removed the floor panel over the tank, and checked everything.I had the smell in the front storage compartment.Found nothing wrong, and the dealer said smell could be from carpet glue/flotation foam doah .That was back in 1999.

I never heard what the fix was, other than replacing the fuel tank.I overfilled my 2005 Alumacraft Navigator once, and never had any fuel smell whatsoever in boat.

You may want to check the line from where you fill the tank to the tank.
My 2002 Ranger had a horrible gas smell in the front compartments and it ended up being that the fill hose was cracked. Got it replaced and no more gas smell.

Might be worth checking near where you fill your tank if you haven’t already.
