In 1975 I saw a Pantera on Lake Bemidji. The Arctic Cat version or the De Tomoso version?
Grouse
De Tomoso. Wouldn’t have noticed an Arctic Cat.
Probably myself before I bought my truck a few years ago. As a college kid I would go out in my 2 door civic. It was a manual and could get through darn near anything. I don’t think I ever got it stuck. My Clam Nanook flip over fit just perfectly too. I got quite a few confused looks from fishermen and even made money off a bet by one that thought there was no way my flip over fit in my car.
The good old days!
Seen an airboat/ice chair once. Looked like a steel tube frame similar to a small dog sled but with a gas driven fan blade for propulsion and seating for one. Looked fun and dangerous.
Lately I’m the crazy.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llmwmSW7wrQ&feature=emb_logo
This is awesome. What is the set up
I seen our old biological station{a stone building}moved from Creel bay across the main bay and set down behind the casino,I think we had about 40″ of ice that winter, definitely dont see that everyday!!

I used to drive my BMW 535 out every once in awhile. It was rwd but with blizzaks it was a beast. I didn’t have a portable so sometimes I would drill a hole by the drivers door and sit on the heated seats.
Caught my second biggest pike on ice at lake O’Dowd doing that. Jigging out the drivers door with a tip up 30 yards away.
Had a small airplane with skis land on the ice by us one time. They did not fish, just got out and walked around for a while, got back in and took off.
Seen this Friday on Petenwell.
Mille Lacs from last year. Probably 10 planes all driving down one of the plowed roads.

Back in like 2005-2006 I saw a car driving out on Lake Superior. It somehow drove out from an area near the lift bridge. I didn’t know much about the ice on that lake at the time, but I know everyone in that bar was freaking out waiting for it to go in. It didn’t as far as I know.

That was Mac’s Twin Bay’s roads. They are having the “Iceport” again this year on March 6th. It’s a pretty neat thing to see!
Last Ice season, I was in-between pickups & drove my little Honda Accord to the shack on Mille Lacs all season long. Never got stuck, but spent plenty of time waiting to be plowed out after the winds would blow all weekend long.
My 1973 Trans Am on Rush Lake near Rush City in 1982. And yes- we were fishing, not doing donuts.
Many years ago we had a group of guys going up to fish. Unfortunately, the ice that winter was incredibly thin so driving a car or truck on the lake was out of the question. There were no skid houses on the lake, none of us had an ATV or sled. There was 6″ of snow and we had to go out far enough where the idea of walking a couple of miles out and pulling a portable by hand through 6″ of snow was not something anyone got too excited about. So… we rigged a John Deere riding mower with tire chains. Hooked it to a small trailer loaded with gear and tied portables to the back of the trailer. It worked! Not quite as well as we hoped because it would get stuck if a few of us tried to jump on the trailer. But it did get the portables and all of our gear drinks and food to the spot.
Sno Runner. I drove one of these in the 1980s. Good for level surfaces. Not much power/torque for hills.
I used to take my mid 90s Mustang GT Convertible out…..with the top down
Lake Osakis Amish with the horse and buggy, hand-drilling holes in 36″ of ice.
