A friend called us up yesterday late afternoon and the wife answered the phone. She hesitated then yelled YES!!, A friend asked her if we wanted some crappies. Kevin went to a small pond we both fish through the ice, with minnows and got 5 in decent time but threw them back. He then remembered that my wife wanted some so he started keeping them. He brought over 12 nice black crappies that are around 12″. I didn’t feel like cleaning them yesterday so I put them in a live tank and am going to clean them here in a few. The ice went out of this pond about 3 weeks ago and its shallow around 6′ at its deepest and about 400′ in diameter so Its warming quick and he got them on the north side shoreline. These are nice and fat and bulging right where the head meets the dorsal fin area. Fresh crappies are going to taste good for dinner tomorrow night.
