I was out fishing on a weird lake. A small one in farm country with very dirty water, no deep structure, and mainly lily pads and cattails. Fishing was above average. I caught most fish on blk/blue jigs and some on buzz frogs. Two of the bigger fish had crappie tails sticking out of their gullets. Now I’m wondering what I could throw to imitate a crappie.

Towards sunset I was flipping a thick floating cattail bog. Suddenly a large area of cattails was shaking then I heard a deep growl and heavy breathing. It was really spooky! There were a few whimpers and silence. I wonder if something ate a baby deer….

Cool pic- The ‘match the hatch’ thing is a bigger thing for trout than bass. Work with what got them the last time, bass are opportunists and like many things that may be on the menu. Sounds like a fun lake
