Some of my best success w finicky fish comes when watching my bait on the camera. Once the jig disappears I set the hook.

Wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions. I ended up getting a ML one 3 snitch. I decided to go a little cheaper because I’ve got a couple other gear items I’m wanting to upgrade. This also gives me some time to get more crappie fishing under my belt to figure our what I like and don’t like.

I got out yesterday and being primarily a lifelong open water walleye fisherman, switching from feel fishing to sight fishing (via the soft tip rod) is a pretty massive transition. The rod performed well after I got used to it (the two of us landed probably 2-3 dozen crappies with a good number in the 8-9 range). The only limitation, which could be the angler, is upbite detection. The rod tip isn’t loaded by the jig (1/16 tingsten) and therefore upbite arent really apparent.

I have owned a number of custom noodle rods from various manufacturers (Thorne/Ace/Tucr/EK customs/DH customs/Syren) and they are all so close together in quality, you really can’t go wrong with a reputable builder/high end noodle.

That said, GLASS noodle rods are good for small jigs and very small spoons.

For larger baits like jigging raps you need a bit more of a ridgid tip.

For that I like a carbon noodle. the tips aren’t bouncy.

on the low end side of things

the snitch is an ok carbon noodle but the eyelets are a bit small. clam makes a carbon noodle the Scepter that looks to work well for this.
Beaver dam has a carbon noodle as well with a more rigid tip.

For glass noodles on the low end side, my choice is the clam genz power noodle, the avid glass, or the beaver dam glass noodle.

i own a few customs and a number of the cheaper noodle rods (i have 3 kids who love to fish with me) I have no problem switching between the 2 and feel like i’m giving up a ton.

Fish with what you like, I have custom rods by just about all makers that are mentioned here, you know what I grab for crappie when I fish for them. An old Lews Speed Stick cut down to 52 inches,2 pc, Thorne brothers spring added. DK.
