Just one, eh? A gold 1/10 ounce Kastmaster Jigging spoon or a gold 1/10 ounce Swedish Pimple, or a gold 1/32 ounce Jigging Demon or Frosty Spoon.

Any ONE of these will get your plastic down to the fish. The plastic, now…that’s gonna be a more than one answer.

I just prefer gold jigging type spoons with a plastic that has a longish whippy tail. Lots of people have other likes and dislikes. Honestly? There is no magic bait or lure and to hit the ice with a very narrow selection can really stand in your way of having a great time catching fish. The fish can change directions in what they want so fast and so many times in one day that a small selection might only address the bite at one particular time. Ten minutes later it could be something entirely different and if you cannot change with the fish you’ll miss out on some serious fun.

Let this question run a while and then do some shopping when some other ideas have been added. I’m not suggesting running out and buying a c-note worth of tackle but a half dozen jigs in a couple different colors and a couple different plastics each in two or three colors will be enough to get you some versatility.
