I am a member of both Costco and Sam’s. You go to Costco for the weirder food stuff that is very good and high quality, but if you want bulk of the popular brands of stuff, you go to Sam’s. Sam’s is also across the board cheaper on most things. Costco has more and higher quality home goods, sporting goods, outside stuff for summer.

I also like Sam’s because it’s less stressful to go through, unlike Costco.

Costco gas is great, but only when the lines are short. My time and stress level is too valuable to wait in a 20-car deep line just to get gas.

Really depends on what Costco you go to. We used to go to Maple Grove or Coon Rapids which sounds like the experience you’re talking about. But we now go to St Cloud and it’s the total opposite. Never had to wait in line for gas. Can park close to the front doors on most occasions. Never wait in line at checkout.

we have a costco membership. really like it. LOVE there produce. never had any bad fruit or veggies. good meats and yea paper products. like others have said the kirkland products are good.

the liqour selection stinks in my opinion.

I’d disagree with this. We have both memberships (for now – got a “free” Sams Club membership). Sam’s sizes are smaller, thus lower prices. Always look at the price per ounce. pound, etc.

All of these membership stores are built on the same theory. Get an upfront payment which is then invested to create profit and make the customers believe that they are belonging to a superior club. Then get them in the door with certain good buys hoping that they will buy the higher priced items. To each there own but I have always done better buying products from all types of stores when pricing is right.

No way will I pay a cover charge to shop in a store. Not a chance.

Me either, goes against my way of ethics.
