Cordless Drill Auger

I was wondering if I’m the only one who has thought of using an impact driver or cordless impact? As long as the adapter isn’t round you could use a 1/2 socket. I would think that an impact driver would cut through the ice faster and more efficiently than a drill. Just curious what others thoughts are.

People turn off the hammer mechanism on hammer drills, so I would assume it’s merely about torque, not impact. Can’t say, never tried it, probably never will. I would assume though that auger manufacturers have which is why they don’t recommend using it.

i have thought about it too but not sure it makes sense? try it and let us know what happens! seems more about torque/rpm to turn a big bit vs. impact. I do not think it will work but…….?

I doubt it would work as well as a regular drill. Now I haven’t tried my auger on the ice with my impact I have tried to use hole hawg bits in my impact to drill holes in wood to run water lines at work, and it doesn’t work nearly as well as with my m18 drill. I would assume it’s going to be the same case with ice. My Milwaukee 18 volt drills hole plenty quick for me
