I have an 8″ Nils hand auger.

    I bought the drill attachment.

I plan to buy a new DeWalt cordless drill.

DeWalt makes a million different models.

Can anyone please direct me to the best option for this purpose?

There are YouTube videos using the Milwaukee M18 red lithium ion with the 4 amp hr batteries. I have this drill and love it both in power and endurance. I’ve used other brands and all others fall short. Also, look at warranties on both the tool and the battery.

Absolutely love my Rockwell drill. I bought the 16v and it has plenty of power. I picked up a 20v for my brother for Xmas and I am going to try to talk him into a trade so I have more power for drilling through the ice.

A couple great features of their power systems are free battery exchange for life and a 30 minute charge. Both are important to me to have 2 fully charged batteries out in the cold for extended periods of time.

I purchased the Rigid X4 18v hammer drill with 650 in.lbs of torque and 4aH batteries for my 6″ Nils auger. Lifetime warranty on the drill AND the batteries. Best deal I could find.

I’ve got a Bosch 18 volt on my auger. It comes with 2 batteries so I never run out of power. It works so well that my grandson has commandeered it for his own use.

I should ask specifically if anyone has an 8″ Nils and uses an electric drill what drill they use?

Thanks fir the responses. Looks like every brand of drill is listed and it must not matter too much which drill a guy buys for this application?

Any thoughts about a standard drill versus a hammer drill??
