I was cleaning some Mc Bride Crappies and came across some white almost spike like looking white worms in three fellets. I’ve never come across this and will be looking for it in the future. Has any body else come across this worm?
The blue gills looked worm & black speck free. Gills

John, I seen them in gills before from a rock pit down south last year and another time gills fron a pond. But never in crappies. All the crappies I keep from Mac Bride this winter were free of worms, never keeped any gills from there, even tho I did get some nice 1’s through the ice this year there.

The meat is white and the worms are slightly whiter like very small spikes and can be easily missed as I caught sight of them when I was hand washing the fellets. Some people in the past have told me that they cut them out, but I am not that gutzy as they went in the trash. John

I just cut them out too.If you missed one it’s just extra meat .

If it is the same worm as in ring perch I cut them out and am sure I’ve ate lots of them. How many do you think people ate when they scaled the fish?? Just makes more eating
